September 23, 2015—The newest member of the dance faculty is Assistant Professor Habib Iddrisu, a traditionally trained musician, dancer, and historian from northern Ghana. Iddrisu is bringing his talent to the creation of a new dance ensemble, called Dema, which Iddrisu calls “a total African performance experience.”

July 9, 2015—This summer the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance is honored to host the Joseph Alessi Seminar, an annual workshop and performance series for trombonists and trombone enthusiasts. 
 
Local concertgoers are invited to four public trombone events in the historic Beall Concert Hall on the UO campus, including a solo recital by the renowned Alessi himself on Wednesday, August 5.
 
June 27, 2015—Since its creation in 1996, the University of Oregon’s Philip H. Knight Professorship, which was endowed by the Nike founder himself, has fostered the advancement of scholarship and creativity in many university departments.
