June 4, 2014—The School of Music and Dance will welcome home two of its own at the SOMD commencement exercises scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturdy, June 14. The school has selected Michael Harrison '83 and Karen Studd, MS '83 as recipients of the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the highest honor the school can bestow on its graduates.
June 2, 2014—Assistant Professor of Musicology Loren Kajikawa is profiled this summer in Oregon Quarterly, the magazine of the University of Oregon.

May 27, 2014—The UO Opera Ensemble, led by opera instructor Dr. Karen Esquivel, traveled to four elementary schools in Springfield, Ore. on April 24 and 25, performing Montsalvatge's "Puss in Boots" to nearly 1,000 children.

April 28, 2014—The University of Oregon’s innovative Vanguard Concert Series has been showcasing the music of the twentieth and twenty-first century for two decades now, and 2014 will be no exception. This May, the Vanguard Concert Series will present two icons of new music, in separate events.
