April 7, 2014—In 2013, the UO’s Community Music Institute (CMI) celebrated two decades of providing high-quality string instruction to students ages four and older in Eugene and the surrounding community.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. both evenings in the Dougherty Dance Theatre on the third floor of the Gerlinger Annex on the UO campus.

Oregon Jazz Ensemble to Travel to Europe

March 27, 2014—Under the direction of Steve Owen, Philip H. Knight Professor of Music, the Oregon Jazz Ensemble will travel to Europe for ten days in July 2014 to perform at leading festivals in Switzerland, France, and Italy. The group of twenty students will also serve as goodwill ambassadors for the UO.

March 18, 2014—Brad Foley, dean of the UO School of Music and Dance, has announced his first sabbatical in thirty-seven years. Dean Foley will be on sabbatical starting April 1, and will resume his duties on September 1, 2014.
