Lindsey Henriksen Rodgers is a musicologist and organist whose work combines academic research and professional performance. Her dissertation, “The North German Chorale Fantasia: A Sermon Without Words,” explores how the 17th-century composers Sweelinck, Scheidemann, Praetorius, and Reincken use musical texture in novel ways, creating aural journeys that mirror the texts that form the basis for their chorale fantasias. Other recent projects have included “Sounding Bodies in the Most Holy Spaces: Bringing 18th-Century Women’s Keyboard Music to the Organ,” a lecture-recital for the 2024 UO School of Music and Dance Musicking Conference, and “The French Connection,” a concert exploring our assumptions about “aural nationality” for the 2024 Oregon Bach Festival.

In addition to her work as a scholar and performer, she currently serves as Associate Organist and Children’s Choir Director at Central Lutheran Church in Eugene, Oregon, where she has worked since 2006. Central Lutheran is home to the illustrious Brombaugh organ, a landmark in American organ-building history and an exquisite example of a modern instrument built in the style of a 17th- to 18th-century North German instrument.

Rodgers teaches a diverse set of courses at the University of Oregon, including MUS 125 – Understanding Music, MUS 611 – Research Methods, and others. In addition, she has taught organ since Fall 2024.

Rodgers is active in organ-related community events and currently serves as the Dean of the Eugene Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
