August 4, 2014—UO string players found themselves a rock and roll band that needed a helping hand.
Kathryn Brunhaver, Olivia Davis, Annissa Olsen, Emily Schoen, Amara Sperber, and Jannie Wei—a mix of current students and recent graduates—were invited to perform with Rod Stewart on Thursday, July 31 at the UO's Matthew Knight Arena.
"We all had a great time," enthuses Sperber. "I've never been in front of such a large and energetic audience. The staging process was highly organized and fast paced...It was so exciting!"
These musicians take their practice schedules seriously, but this was late July, so they really didn’t have to be back at school.
