April 1, 2014—Andrew Stiefel, graduate student in music composition, has won the Zvi Zeitlin Memorial International Composer’s Competition Grand Prize.
As the Grand Prize-winning composition, Stiefel’s “The Day is On Fire”, a piece composed for flute, two violins, viola, and cello, will be performed by the Cuatro Puntos chamber ensemble in Connecticut on May 23 and in South America in August. Cuatro Puntos will also record the work on an upcoming album.
