June 5, 2014—The University of Oregon Alumni Association has selected renowned music educator Mr. Lynn Sjolund as its 2014 Distinguished Alumnus, the highest honor the UO bestows upon alumni.
June 4, 2014—The School of Music and Dance will welcome home two of its own at the SOMD commencement exercises scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturdy, June 14. The school has selected Michael Harrison '83 and Karen Studd, MS '83 as recipients of the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the highest honor the school can bestow on its graduates.
A family’s generosity extends a UO legacy.

April 14, 2014—In 2013, the UO’s gospel program turned thirty, and to celebrate, program director Andiel Brown introduced his ensemble’s joyful noise to a whole new stage: the People’s Republic of China.

Ziyi Pan, who graduated from the UO in 2012 with a bachelor of arts in music and a minor in business, was instrumental in smoothing the way for Brown and his students to make the trip.

Jan. 20, 2014—Claire Wachter, International Steinway Artist and Associate Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy, has been awarded a $35,000 grant from the Oregon Community Foundation to create a series of online video lecture-performances in piano repertoire.

Sept. 27, 2013—We are saddened to report that Philip Frohnmayer, MMus 1972, passed away today, Friday, Sept. 27.

A native Oregonian and a Professor of Voice at Loyola University in New Orleans, Frohnmayer was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the UO School of Music and Dance in 2012. More information on the life of Philip Frohnmayer is available on the on the website of The Times-Picayune.
